I had a few sleepless nights after I got home from the hospital. I found myself surfing the web out of boredom and Pinterest led me to this
http://kidcrave.com/kids-room/under-the-bed-train-table/. The boys still love to play with their wooden trains but I got rid of their train table a while back.
Train tables are neat but after a while they become like the treadmill in the corner covered in clothes . Ours ended up as a dumping ground for miscellaneous toys and random track pieces. Not to mention a large rectangle in the playroom that you had to maneuver around. The boys usually ended up building tracks on the floor instead of the table so I sold it and have never regretted it.
The thought of one that could be a space saver was nice but I am frugal and was not about to buy another table. I figured we could have a weekend DIY project and build one of our own. I searched and found several examples where others had done it

Hubby and I are very much beginners at building or woodworking, so we came up with a very simple design and managed to pull it off. Pre cut piece of wood, 5 casters, spray paint/craft paint. It ended up costing less than $40 and the boys love having a platform to build their trains on, and to use as a giant skateboard!
